The trunk actuator has been replaced with one from an '05 model, and it now works. The guy at the desk at the scrapyard commented on how "clean" the Escape was.
The path to legalization, like the road I took to get to the scrapyard, is very smooth.
I need to adjust the handbrake, and bleed the brakes, I can't bleed it without trying to round the bleeder screws off.
I'm also home alone again, and will get some visitors on Sunday and Tuesday.
